Acupuncture at FISIOVIDA treats everything from the common “backache”, sciatica and tendinitis to the much more complex pains and/or problems that can affect our bodies.
Chinese medicine is based on the concept of ENERGY. This “energy” simply consists of that substance that our cells need to function: ATP! Our bodies have two basic sources of energy: RESPIRATION and NUTRITION.
In terms of NUTRITION, it is fundamental to study an individual’s nutritional habits to understand how capable they are of generating enough energy to properly feed their cells, which is why it is so important to include Functional Nutrition in the Acupuncture appointment. Regarding the other source of energy, RESPIRATION, it is also essential to evaluate the performance of the individual’s main breathing muscle, the diaphragm. When the latter is restricted in its movement, it is possible to release it not only through Acupuncture, but also through Hypopressive Abdominal Gymnastics – GAH, which is also included in the same appointment.
Why does the body need energy?
To move!
In order to move, it needs to be well nourished (NUTRITION) and to breathe well (RESPIRATION) so that the blood can effectively reach all cells! This is needed for the body to perform one of its most important functions, which is MOVEMENT! This is why we believe it is important to include clinically-adapted mat and reformer Pilates exercises into the Acupuncture consultation together with GAH and Functional Nutrition.

Because it interconnects conventional/allopathic medicine with Chinese/non-conventional medicine. This medicine is based on promoting balance, namely acid-base equilibrium, which is essential for each of our cells to live and for regulating the neuro-vegetative system. This requires utilizing the other aforementioned components of Chinese medicine beyond just placing needles in the body. In other words, just as in conventional medicine, it is important for the patient to be aware of the habits that led them to dysfunction so that they can change them and make the most of their treatment and recovery.

How is the evaluation?
The evaluation of the individual is done on a holistic basis and takes various characteristics into consideration, such as the location and source of the pain, appearance, personality/character, color, skin temperature, smell, tone of voice, radial pulse, tongue, gait, sense of well-being, posture, acupuncture points, and others, gathering them all together to identify the cause of the internal energy imbalance. This imbalance may be provoked by the environment (external origin) or by internal agents (emotional origin).
There is no “one size fits all” when it comes to health! Bottom line, Acupuncture is more than just a technique; it is a part of Chinese Traditional Medicine, which involves personalized evaluation, diagnosis and treatment, such that the same pathology will be treated differently in each person.
